Session Description
How can strengthening the relationship between people and nature drive transformative change for biodiversity and climate? This interactive fishbowl discussion will explore diverse perspectives on human–nature connectedness, focusing on how it shapes values, behaviours, and collective action. Key topics include the influence of digital versus physical experiences with nature, especially in urban contexts, and the importance of developing robust ways to measure connectedness that can guide policy and conservation strategies. The session’s dynamic format encourages active participation, allowing attendees to share insights, exchange practices, and co-create solutions. Expected outcomes include the identification of best practices for measuring connectedness, an overview of current initiatives and metrics, recommendations for scaling up values-driven approaches, and a proposal for a Commission Task Force on global measurement frameworks.
