Why attend
This Deepdive convenes regional experts to advance the design, management, and resilience of Marine Protected and Managed Areas. By integrating science, socio-economic insights, and adaptive strategies, the session lays the foundation for a regional framework that safeguards biodiversity, strengthens governance, and accelerates sustainable ocean stewardship.
Session Description
Part of the MENA Oceans Summit 2025, this Deepdive session convenes experts from across the MENA region to share insights on guiding policy, improving MPA management, enhancing resilience, and supporting restoration initiatives across our shared seas, including the Arabian Sea, the Arabian Gulf, the Red Sea, and the Mediterranean. Participants will explore regional conservation priorities, highlight key biodiversity areas, and discuss approaches to integrate resilience-based management principles. The session will also examine monitoring, research, and capacity-building strategies, as well as methodologies for socio-economic assessments and coral reef resilience, providing actionable insights to inform regional efforts. This session serves as a launchpad for ongoing engagement through the MENA Marine Protected Areas Working Group under the MENA Oceans Network, marking a critical step toward aligning science, policy, and community needs to strengthen ecosystem protection and sustainable marine resource use throughout the region.Organised by
