Why attend

This session provides an opportunity to engage with IUCN in the uptake of revolutionary new technologies to enable more regular, rapid, and robust IUCN Red List species assessments. Opportunities and challenges for using new technologies will be presented and discussed, with input from session participants strongly encouraged.

Session Description

This World Cafe will enable all Members of IUCN attending WCC to be updated, and comment on, emerging opportunities for use of artificial intelligence, environmental DNA, citizen science, and other transformative data and technologies to greatly improve access to modern biodiversity data via the world leading IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. The availability of these plans through a World Cafe will greatly help IUCN to gain advice from Members on meeting key Red List strategic plan targets, through discussion on identified opportunities and challenges of new technologies and potentially identifying prospective donors who may contribute to implementing these critical, and globally relevant, updates.
