Why attend

Join global leaders, governments, financiers, and conservation experts to explore innovative field solutions and international cooperation for big cat conservation. This session highlights pathways to scale up species recovery, sustainable financing, and community-led action, offering practical strategies and partnerships to secure the future of big cats worldwide.

Session Description

Big cats are powerful symbols of ecological balance and vital indicators of healthy ecosystems. Yet their survival depends on global cooperation, inclusive strategies, and long-term investment. This session, jointly led by IUCN and the International Big Cats Alliance (IBCA), will spotlight how collective action and innovative partnerships can strengthen conservation efforts worldwide. A keynote by IBCA will set the stage, followed by a high-level panel discussion with IUCN, KfW, the Asian Development Bank, the Snow Leopard Trust, and government representatives from Bhutan and Ethiopia. Together, they will explore field-tested solutions, financing mechanisms, and rights-based, community-led approaches that can be scaled up and adapted across regions. Participants will gain insights into global priorities, challenges, and opportunities, while engaging in dialogue on how to mobilize resources, build stronger alliances, and deliver lasting outcomes for both big cats and people.
