Session Description
This session spotlights the importance of policy endorsement for inclusive and direct finance. Drawing on the outcomes and lessons learned from the indigenous-led initiatives, it will highlight lessons learned in scaling up Indigenous access to finance and the enabling role of policy frameworks in ensuring direct, equitable resource flows. At the centre is biodiversity finance: which models have proven effective, what barriers continue to hinder progress, and what structural shifts are needed to build resilient, scalable systems aligned with Indigenous priorities. By centring Indigenous leadership, the session emphasizes that sustainable finance goes beyond channelling funds, but that it requires reshaping governance and accountability so that financial systems truly advance biodiversity conservation, climate action, and Indigenous self-determined pathways of stewardship.Organised by
