Why attend
Discover how IUCN and partners are driving global action for grasslands, savannahs, and rangelands through a high-level dialogue, the launch of a global report, diverse stakeholder insights, and an interactive exchange showcasing solutions that unite biodiversity, climate resilience, and livelihoods.
Session Description
Grasslands, savannahs, and rangelands sustain biodiversity, store carbon, regulate water, and support millions of livelihoods, yet remain undervalued and threatened. This session, co-hosted by IUCN and WWF with support from the Government of Germany through IKI, will spotlight their global importance and pathways for action. A high-level opening will frame the session within global agenda, followed by the launch of From Roots to Riches: Priority Policy and Investment Decisions for Grasslands and Savannahs, providing critical evidence and guidance. A panel of diverse stakeholders will then share knowledge, innovations, and practical approaches, demonstrating how multifunctional management can deliver for nature, climate, and people. The session will close with an interactive audience dialogue, inviting reflections and opportunities for collaboration. Together, participants will co-develop solutions to scale up protection, sustainable use, and restoration of these ecosystems worldwide.Organized by
