Session Description
Reaching the global biodiversity target will not be possible without bold new financing solutions. Protected and Conserved Areas urgently need resources to strengthen governance, management, and monitoring, but traditional funding alone cannot meet this challenge. This session brings together innovators who are proving that outcomes-based finance can bridge the gap.The diverse speakers will demonstrate how linking finance to measurable conservation results unlocks new capital. The Sustainable Finance Coalition will share lessons on biodiversity credits and blended finance, while experiences from Finance Montréal and global funds like the GEF illustrate how markets and multilateral actors can help scale these solutions. Throughout, the IUCN Green List Standard is presented as a trusted assurance framework, ensuring credibility, transparency, and equity. Together, these approaches show how finance can become a driving force for achieving the Global Biodiversity Framework.
