Arnau Teixidor Costa is Coordinator of the Ecosystem and CSO Support Programmes at the IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation, based in Málaga, Spain. He manages a portfolio of projects on topics such as protected area governance and management, improving the biodiversity performance of key sectors like tourism and urban planning, and mainstreaming Nature-based Solutions in terrestrial ecosystems, with a strong focus on supporting civil society organizations in delivering conservation action. Arnau also supports the secretariat of the MEET Network Association, which promotes ecotourism development in Mediterranean protected and conserved areas.
Before his current role, Arnau was Climate Emergency Project Manager at Bristol City Council, Destinations Programme Officer at the Travel Foundation, and Executive Director of Fundação Maio Biodiversidade (FMB), a conservation NGO in Cabo Verde. With a background in urban design and spatial planning, he has worked for 15 years on sustainable development initiatives spanning urban planning, tourism, nature conservation, transport, and climate change in several countries, including Cabo Verde, Turkey, Switzerland, Croatia, and the United Kingdom, with a particular focus on the Mediterranean. Originally from Girona, Spain, he holds an MSc in International Planning from University College London, as well as additional qualifications in sustainability, tourism, protected areas, and environmental law.
