Ayshka NAJIB

Biography

Ayshka Najib is a climate justice activist based in the UAE. She co-founded Fridays For Future MAPA and the People's Climate Diplomacy Program where she acts as the Campaign Coordinator and Just Transition Lead. Her work focuses on ensuring the leadership and meaningful participation of those at the frontlines of the crisis. She has also been working on intergenerational justice and child rights as the UNICEF Youth Advocate to the UAE. She is the MENA Regional Lead at the Youth Climate Justice Fund leading participatory grant making process in the region to support youth led climate solutions. Her expertise also lies on the gender and climate nexus. As Youth Lead for the Action Coalition on Feminist Action for Climate Justice, she works with UN Women and the Generation Equality Campaign to push for recognizing the intersectionality of gender equality and climate justice in decision making spaces as well as at the grass roots level. Lastly, Ayshka is also a member of the Women and Gender Constituency, one of the nine official observer constituencies of the UNFCCC, mainly focused on gender just transition as well as the coordination of the MENA Feminist Taskforce.
