Cheryl MARGOLUIS

Biography

Cheryl Margoluis is the Executive Director of the CARE-WWF Alliance, a unique partnership between two global leaders in development and conservation. She leads efforts to design and scale integrated solutions that address the dual crises of climate change and biodiversity loss while advancing community well-being—particularly for women and girls. Her work centers on building resilient systems that connect conservation, climate adaptation, livelihoods, and health in some of the world’s most vulnerable landscapes. Cheryl holds a PhD from the Yale School of the Environment and brings over 20 years of experience across sectors—from co-founding a bilingual “green” school in Central America to serving as a university professor in Tropical Ecology and Human Ecology. Prior to returning to California, she spent 15 years living and working in Guatemala and Costa Rica, collaborating with communities on environmental and gender justice. Bilingual in Spanish and English (and desperately working on her French). Cheryl is passionate about ensuring that women and girls have the skills, resources, and opportunities they need to shape their own futures and lead in the face of climate disruption. She serves on the board of the Walnut Avenue Family and Women’s Center in Santa Cruz, CA.
