Fátima D. Gigante has a multidisciplinary background as a biologist with a Master’s degree in Forest and Nature Conservation from Wageningen University and Research, where she specialized in the social dimensions and human aspects of biodiversity conservation. She has worked with local communities in both urban and rural settings on projects related to human–wildlife coexistence (particularly with species such as vultures, wolves, and bears), community forestry led by Indigenous peoples, protected area management, ecotourism, and environmental education. Her work has primarily focused on Spain and Portugal, with additional experience in Argentina and Bolivia. Currently, she serves as Program Coordinator at CoalitionWILD, the youth program of the WILD Foundation, and as Network Coordinator of the Women in Nature Network (WiNN), roles in which she works globally to support environmental leaders driving change in their local contexts. In addition, she frequently contributes to conservation projects that require integrating social dimensions and is expanding her expertise in stakeholder engagement, group facilitation, and conflict management.
