Johanne NORDBY FREMSTAD

Biography

Johanne is a Senior Adviser with the Oceans Team at the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad), where she has worked for over four years on advancing sustainable and equitable ocean and fisheries development. Prior to joining Norad, she worked with the World Bank’s global programme for a sustainable blue economy, with a particular focus on promoting gender equality in fisheries and related sectors. Her earlier career includes serving in the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Malawi, where she coordinated large UN–government programmes, including a major multi-stakeholder initiative to address gender-based violence. She holds a Master’s degree in Global Environment, Politics and Society from the University of Edinburgh, and a Bachelor’s degree in International Environment and Development Studies from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences.
