Marie Fischborn is an experienced conservation professional, specializing in knowledge management, learning and exchange. Her thematic expertise also includes protected and conserved areas, with regional experience mostly in Southeast Asia as well as Eastern Africa and the Western Indian Ocean.
At IUCN, Marie is a Senior Manager, coordinating the Union's efforts to improve knowledge management practices. She has recently led the development of the first-ever IUCN knowledge management strategy.
Marie is one of the initiators of PANORAMA, a widely recognized initiative that supports peer-to-peer exchange based on existing good practices to enable knowledge uptake and replication. She has been co-leading PANORAMA’s strategic development since 2014, working closely with partners such as GIZ, UNDP and the CBD Secretariat.
Her academic background is in conservation biology and ecology, as well as environmental governance. She is fluent in English, French and German, with basic knowledge of Hindi.
