MARTA CECILIA DIAZ LEGUIZAMON

Biography

Biologist, specialist in remote sensing image interpretation applied to rural studies; with a Master’s degree in Biological Sciences (Biodiversity and Conservation focus) from the National University of Colombia, and currently a PhD candidate in the same program and university. Experience focused on the planning and management of protected areas, as well as the formulation of policies, strategies, and planning instruments for biodiversity conservation and sustainable use. Professional activities developed through advisory services, training, collaboration with institutions and with rural and ethnic communities, workshops with technical teams, and the generation and analysis of information aimed at conservation, for both private companies and government institutions. Member of the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas. Advisor to National Natural Parks of Colombia on different management issues since 2006. Deputy Director of Management and Administration since February 2024.
