Mounir Louhaichi holds a Ph.D. and a M.Sc. from the department of Rangeland Ecology & Management at Oregon State University (USA). Currently he holds a principal scientist position and Research Team Leader for the Rangeland Ecology & Forages Unit at the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas. Dr Louhaichi has a proven track record of more than 25 years in terrestrial ecological restoration and landscape ecology. He has a solid background in assessing and monitoring rangeland health using advanced geospatial tools (certified GIS professional). He has authored and co-authored more than 250 scientific publications including peer reviewed papers, conference proceedings, training manuals and copyrighted / patented scientific software and hardware. Since January 1, 2015, Mounir has held a courtesy faculty appointment (rank professor) in the Department of Animal and Rangeland Sciences at OSU. He served as vice president of the international rangeland congress (IRC) from 2017 to 2022. Member of the Global Coordinating Committee for the IYRP and more recently member of the continuing committee of the international grassland congress (IGC) for the Mediterranean region. His interest would be on a systems thinking approach to managing agro-silvo-pastoral ecosystems.
