Yiyun SUN

Biography

Sun Yiyun holds a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Management from Renmin University of China, and a double Master’s degree in Spatial Planning and Environmental Policy jointly awarded by Cardiff University (UK) and Radboud University (the Netherlands). She is a recipient of the full Erasmus+ Scholarship (European Union) and a scholarship from the "APAC Initiative for Regional Impact – Urban-Rural Sustainable Development Program". Additionally, she has obtained the ESG Investing Certificate issued by CFA Institute and the professional certificate in "Assessing and Monitoring Urban Nature" from IUCN Academy.

Prior to joining IUCN, Ms. Sun worked at the China Center for Urban Development (CCUD) under the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China. She has in-depth expertise in urban and rural development research, and participated in the formulation of multiple local-level "14th Five-Year Plan" (2021-2025) documents, urban-rural integration strategic plans, and rural revitalization plans.

Since joining the IUCN China Office in 2021, she has led the advancement of key projects including Nature-based Solutions (NbS), Area-based Conservation (AbC), urban biodiversity conservation, and corporate nature investment. Currently, she focuses on expanding project practice and research in the field of urban nature by applying tools such as the IUCN Urban Nature Index.
