Saebyeol Seo is a program officer for protected areas at the IUCN Asia Regional Office (ARO), where she primarily supports the Secretariat of the Asia Protected Areas Partnership (APAP). Seconded from the Korea National Park Service (KNPS), she began her career in 2017 after completing her master’s degree in environmental science and engineering, working on ecological restoration and species conservation in Woraksan National Park. In 2021, she joined the International Affairs Division of KNPS, contributing to major international conferences and the Korea Protected Areas Forum (KPAF). Since her secondment to IUCN in 2023, she has managed collaborative projects between IUCN and KNPS with a focus on protected areas, OECMs, and climate change, and also coordinates youth engagement through the Asia Youth Network for Protected Areas (AYNPA). She continues to strengthen conservation governance in Asia through policy dialogue, capacity-building, and inclusive approaches.
