Brazil has committed to restoring 12 million hectares by 2030 and has already demonstrated that large-scale tropical restoration is possible, with tangible impacts on carbon, biodiversity, and local development. For this potential to translate into a driver of regenerative development, dialogue with the private sector and alignment of different climate finance mechanisms are essential.The panel will:
• Analyze the voluntary carbon market (VCM), currently the main financing channel for nature-based removals, highlighting its progress and integrity challenges.
• Present concrete results of restoration at scale, demonstrating how the private sector is already delivering high-integrity carbon, biodiversity, and socioeconomic benefits.
• Discuss the role of the private sector, how to attract commercial capital, and the creation of new windows of scale for Brazil.
• Point out paths for a convergence between public and private capital and market instruments, strengthening the role of restoration as a solution for mitigation, adaptation, and territorial development.
