Por qué asistir
This session spotlights the centuries-old Hima system as a culturally rooted model for restoration, resilience, and community stewardship. It will examine how climate finance and community-led governance can scale Hima into a transformative solution for biodiversity, conflict resolution, and sustainable development across West Asia and beyond.
Descripción de la sesión
This hybrid session will showcase how reviving traditional governance empowers communities to steward shared resources while strengthening ecosystem services. Case studies from Lebanon and beyond will illustrate Hima’s potential as a municipal-level mechanism for conflict-sensitive natural resource management. A high-level dialogue with ministers, regional leaders, and international funds (GEF, GCF) will explore how vertical finance can integrate community-based governance into biodiversity and climate agendas. The session will highlight practical tools and enabling conditions to replicate and upscale the “Hima for Peace” approach across West Asia and other fragile landscapes. Voices of youth and community leaders will add perspectives on pathways for sustainable peace, social cohesion, and nature-based solutions in vulnerable regions.Organised by
