Session Description

This session goes beyond PEDRR, focusing on how aligning policy frameworks and conventions can optimize the use of existing resources to advance ecosystem-based approaches. The discussion will highlight critical entry points for policy coherence and practical strategies to align global frameworks such as the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. Participants will gain insights into innovative solutions, such as spatial planning tools, multi-hazard risk assessments, financing strategies including payments for ecosystem services, and private-sector investments in climate resilience.
