Session Description

This 90-minute session includes a 45-minute panel and 45-minute world café. The panel will introduce two Government of Canada-funded projects implemented by IISD: the Climate Adaptation and Protected Areas (CAPA) Initiative and the Scaling Urban Nature-based Solutions for Climate Adaptation in Sub-Saharan Africa (SUNCASA) project. The session will feature short presentations from project partners in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean, and Oceania on implementing NbS for adaptation in protected areas and urban spaces.

The world café will include three stations, with multiple rounds of discussions and a closing plenary to
share key takeaways. Discussion topics will include promising practices and opportunities for scaling up NbS in urban and protected area contexts, barriers and challenges to implementation, and integrating gender-responsive and socially inclusive considerations.
