Why attend

The bioeconomy can only be truly sustainable if it conserves and restores terrestrial biodiversity. Join leading forestry companies and stakeholders from across the globe to explore how the sector can deliver ambitious biodiversity goals. Discover how science-based targets, approaches, and metrics can guide collaboration and drive real impact.

Session Description

Forests can contribute to a sustainable bioeconomy and help replace the use of non-renewable resources, which account for 75% of the total demand for raw materials. However, such transition must not be at the expense of the world's terrestrial biodiversity, which is hosted in forests.
The session will start with insights from two companies that are implementing sustainable forestry approaches, including science-based practices in terms of target setting and engagement with multiple stakeholders - from academia to conservation NGOs, communities, indigenous peoples, etc. The companies and their partners will present the best practices in their own contexts, the Nordic forest of Sweden for Stora Enso and the mega-diverse Brazilian biomes for Suzano.
Participants will be invited to take part in a fishbowl session to explore lessons learned and challenges and identify common critical factors for a sustainable bioeconomy that is positive for nature and people.
