Dao NGUYEN

Biography

Dao is from Vietnam. She has 20 years of experience at local and regional levels in Asia, Africa and Oceania, as well as globally through international policy advocacy work. Between 2012 and early 2017 she was Global Network Coordinator, Biodiversity Policy, in WWF International. She has experience of CBD, CITES, World Heritage, UNGA and other policy fora. Dao has a Bachelor in Communications from the Vietnam National University in Hanoi and a Masters degree in Conservation Biology from the University of Kent at Canterbury in United Kingdom. Her combined experience in on the ground species conservation (including with SSC), protected areas management, policy advocacy, network management as well as communication make her an ideal candidate for this position. Dao was born inside Vietnam’s first National Park and grew up with the challenges facing both rangers and the local community, especially during the hardship years in the 1980s, where the forest was their lifeline for survival. She is married with two children and in her spare time she is an active member supporting the primate rescue centre, land tortoise and pangolin rescue centres in Vietnam.
