Lina SARKIS

Biography

Lina Sarkis carries over 15 years of experience in the fields of conservation, rural development, and NGO management. She has a proven track record in leading initiatives for biodiversity conservation and sustainable agriculture, particularly during her tenure at the Shouf Biosphere Reserve (SBR) from 2017 to 2023. During this time, she coordinated numerous projects, developed comprehensive management plans, and supported the implementation of international conservation frameworks. She was instrumental in SBR’s successful Green List application process and has provided coaching for other protected areas in the Middle East and North Africa.

In addition to her project work, she contributed to the development of key publications, training curricula, and communication strategies for various environmental and social impact projects. 

Earlier in her career, she held the position of Deputy National Director and Head of Fund Development & Communications at SOS Children’s Villages Lebanon.

Fluent in Arabic, English, and French, Lina holds a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration and Political Science from the American University of Beirut. 

Currently, she serves as a consultant for the Shouf Biosphere Reserve and is the co-chair of the Middle East and West Asia (MEWA) Regional Expert Advisory Group of the IUCN Green List. She is also President of the Municipality of Moukhtara, and of the Union of Municipalities of the Upper Shouf in Lebanon
