Matthieu Le Grix is an agronomist. He conducted agro-economic field studies in Chile and Mali before joining AFD. For about ten years, he held project manager positions within local AFD offices, successively in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, and Tunisia. He was involved in the definition and monitoring of AFD-financed projects in these countries, focusing on agriculture, rural development, water, and biodiversity sectors, working closely with the Agency’s local partners. He also worked in the department responsible for analyzing the environmental and social impacts of projects.
He joined AFD’s Agriculture, Rural Development, and Biodiversity Division in 2018. He oversaw AFD’s sectoral operations in the Sahel, the Gulf of Guinea, the Maghreb, the Near and Middle East, and Latin America. He contributed to AFD’s strategic initiatives, particularly in food security, agroecology, and territorial approaches to rural development. In 2021, Matthieu Le Grix took over as head of the Agriculture, Rural Development, and Biodiversity Division.
