Why attend

The bioeconomy can only be truly sustainable if it measurably conserves and restores terrestrial biodiversity. Join leading forestry companies and stakeholders from around the world to explore how the sector can deliver ambitious biodiversity goals. Discover and discuss how science-based approaches can guide collaboration with stakeholders and drive real impact.

Session Description

Forests and trees can contribute to a sustainable bioeconomy and help replace the use of non-renewable resources, but this must not happen at the expense of forests’ biodiversity. In this fishbowl session, global actors managing large forest holdings in Sweden, Brazil and Japan - Stora Enso, Suzano and Sumitomo - and representatives from the scientific community and forests certification schemes will discuss how the use of robust global biodiversity approaches and metrics, such as IUCN RHINO and STAR, and new measurement frameworks could be game changers for nature in the sector. Participants will then be invited to debrief and join the discussion by asking questions, giving feedback, and sharing observations.
