Bibiana SUCRE SMITH

Biography

Biologist with a master's degree in public management. Her technical experience has focused on the recovery of endangered species, ecosystem restoration, local community participation, and environmental education. Institutional management, particularly strategic planning and its implementation, coordination of multidisciplinary and multicultural teams, and internal and external communications. She has been part of Provita since 2010 and has served as its Executive Director since 2014. She has also worked in connection with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) since 2014, serving as Deputy Chair of the IUCN South American Members Committee during 2017-2019, Executive Director of the IUCN Species Survival Commission Chair's Office (headquartered at Provita) during 2017-2021, part of the IUCN Council from Meso and South America 2021-2025, and Chair of the IUCN South American Members Committee since 2024.
