Aymeric ROUSSEL

Biography

I am a development specialist with over twenty-five years of experience in biodiversity conservation, natural resources management, and rural development, with a particular focus on developing countries in Africa and Asia. Trained as an agricultural economist, I have served in various capacities in Vietnam, Niger, Nigeria, Madagascar, Cambodia, and currently at the European Commission in Brussels. Throughout my career, I have been responsible for the design and management of large-scale cooperation programmes addressing sustainable agriculture, fisheries governance, biodiversity protection, and climate-resilient livelihoods. My professional engagement has consistently centered on integrating biodiversity objectives into broader development strategies, including the leadership of flagship initiatives such as NaturAfrica and the coordination of global actions against wildlife trafficking. I am deeply committed to advancing integrated landscape approaches, embedding human rights considerations within conservation practices and involving local communities, and ensuring that ecosystem protection is translated into tangible and lasting development outcomes.
